June 25th, Camp Wildwood

“Camp Wildwood”

Today was a working day for us. We got the travel trailer really ready for our 2-month excursion. I unpacked all the clothes and put them away. Next I inventoried all the supplies and completed my shopping list. After grocery shopping I put all the groceries away and planned dinner. I think I have too much frozen food for the tiny freezer (I bought a lot of stuff at BJ’s the other day). If I have way too much by Tuesday, I will have to leave the refrigerator plugged in here at the Camp.

Rodney went to Agway to purchase fertilizer for the “garden” we are planting next to the garage here at Camp Wildwood. He also purchased lime. He put down the lime and the fertilizer and used the roto-tiller to churn it all in. Then we all planted pumpkin and watermelon seeds. Hopefully when we return from our trip they will be big plants with fruit! Rodney also “weed-whacked” all around the house. The clover we planted for our “lawn” is actually growing, so he also began to use the herbicide to kill the grasses, but it started to rain, so he had to stop. First I had to figure out the very confusing dilution directions that came with the concentrated pesticide. Felt like I was back in Chem.

Since it is raining we are all enjoying some quiet time. We had played catch outside earlier and also “Pokemon” cards. Now Brianna is busy with Origami and Sheldon is watching Kangaroo Jack on DVD. Rod is still doing something outside.

Earlier we had some fun with Brownie chasing a squirrel that had run into the garage. Actually there were two small (young) squirrels and they had her going, because she really wants to catch a squirrel. Brianna also saw a deer up on the hill running across the path. Overall it’s been quite a pleasant day.

When I wept at the gas station filling up at 3.27 a gallon I thought of you. See any owls?
