Day 1
Today we drove 291 miles from our house on Long Island to our other house, “Camp Wildwood” in Berkshire. It took us 5 ½ hours, which is much longer than it usually does, but we did hit a lot of traffic on 95 heading North after the Throgs Neck Bridge, and then more traffic on the Tappan Zee Bridge and the start of the Thruway.
When I mention the times in this journal, I am not counting stops. We stopped for lunch at the Roscoe Diner. We also stopped in Endicott to get a squeegie for cleaning the truck windshield during the trip and to get windshield wiper fluid.
It rained at the beginning of the trip, but became sunny and warm by the time we arrived here. I spent a couple of hours putting stuff into the RV, but will finish tomorrow. We quadded around the property and I saw one doe. We also played with the football nerf type thing that whistles if you throw it hard enough. Of course it was steaming hot in the house, so we turned on the newly repaired A/C. It did not work. No cold air, just “vent” air. Grrr. This problem has been ongoing, and we aren’t here for a long enough period of time to get it fixed right. Last time they thought they had fixed it, but it was only 40 degrees outside, so it was pretty hard to tell if it was air-conditioned air or just outside air. Why is nothing simple?
We will be here until Tuesday, June 27th. We will drive to Pymatuning State Park on Tuesday and that is probably the next time I will update the journal. I will be uploading these journal entries whenever I can, so check back frequently and you might get a whole weeks’ worth at once.
